TIM-Spartan6-19kS3 Manual Offset Calibration

If the absolute accuracy is not to your satisfaction, or for any other reason, you can apply an offset to the distance data by following these steps:

  1. Place your device coplanar in front of a uniform white target
  2. Avoid extreme environmental light conditions or avoid light completely
  3. Plug the TIM power and USB cable
  4. Set the desired modulation frequency at which the device should be calibrated.
  5. Set the offset to zero: Use the SDK command 'SetOffset'
  6. Adjust the integration time in order to have an amplitude of approximately 3000 in the center of the image
  7. Average over at least 50 frames to reduce the noise.
  8. Substract that averaged value from the real distance measured from the camera to the uniform white target
  9. The given offset can now be applied using the SDK command 'SetOffset'
  10. In order to preserve the offset calibration beyond a device reset, the whole register map must be saved to flash.
